Industrial Network & Comms Recovery

Plant-floor IT work for the jobs most contractors won't touch. We plug a laptop into the panel, decode the comms, and get your PLC and industrial touchscreen (HMI) talking again.

Where Electrical Stops and IT Starts

Most contractors stop at the wiring. Most IT shops won't touch a control panel. We sit in the middle. Industrial IT, in plain terms, means we plug a laptop into the machine, read what the touchscreen and the PLC are saying to each other, and fix what's broken in the comms.

01

HMI Won't Talk to the PLC

The screen is up but the values are stuck. Address mismatch, baud rate, cable, comms config. We get on it with a sniffer and find the actual fault, not a guess.

02

Modbus / Ethernet/IP Won't Connect

Drives, sensors, gateways that won't show up on the network. We trace the traffic, decode the frames, and get the devices on the bus.

03

Locked Out of the Panel

HMI password lost. Project file locked to dead hardware. We recover what's recoverable and rebuild what isn't.

04

The Network Behind the SCADA

Managed switches, VLANs, IT/OT segregation, the industrial network your office IT can't fix. We set it up or untangle what's there.

Job 01

Pull the Program Off the HMI Before It Dies

Every industrial touchscreen (HMI) in a working machine should have a backup. Most don't. We extract the project off your running panel before the OEM declares it end of life.

Job 02

Get the PLC and the Touchscreen Talking Again

HMI showing zeros. PLC throwing comms errors. Drive showing fault codes the screen never warned about. We sniff the wire, find the mismatch, and get the devices speaking the same protocol.

Job 03

Reverse Engineer Modbus, Ethernet/IP, RS485

No drawings, no source files, no register map. We capture the live traffic between the controller and the panel, decode it, and document what's actually there so you can hand it to any contractor next time.

Job 04

Set Up or Fix the Plant-Floor Network

Managed switches. VLANs. IT/OT segregation. The industrial network that sits behind the SCADA and the office IT shop won't touch. We design it small, document it, hand it over.

Job 05

Industrial PC, Panel PC and Thin Client Recovery

The little black box sitting in the cabinet running your line that nobody knows the password for. We get it back in service, image it for backup, and document the build.

Blair's Roll Form: Pulled the program off a screen no one else would touch.

FNQ · Roll Forming Line Touchwin HMI · Reverse engineered from the running panel
Laptop plugged into the roll forming machine's HMI panel at Blair's, decoding live Modbus traffic on the workshop floor
On siteLaptop straight into the panel. Live Modbus traffic on screen while the line kept running.

The Job

Roll forming line running on an HMI nobody had source files for. Original installer gone. OEM gone. The screen had started playing up and the only options on the table were a full new build or a long, expensive shutdown.

What We Did

  • Plugged a laptop into the running Touchwin panel on site.
  • Sniffed the live Modbus traffic between the controller and the touchscreen.
  • Decoded the stream, mapped every register, alarm and recipe.
  • Rebuilt the project clean on a new Touchwin panel. Like for like. No operator retraining.
  • Commissioned on site, then handed over backups and full documentation.

The Result

The line went back to running on a modern industrial touchscreen with backups in the customer's hands. Total downtime: a single afternoon.

What People Ask Before They Ring

Can you pull the program off the touchscreen (HMI) before we replace it?

Yes. That's usually the first thing we do. We get a working backup off the panel before anything else gets touched.

Do we need to shut the line down for you to look at it?

Often no. We can clip onto a running PLC and read the comms without interrupting production. We confirm it's safe before we start.

We've had two other contractors look at this. Is it worth one more try?

That's most of our jobs. Different tools, different read on the comms. We'll tell you within an hour if it's solvable.

What if the OEM has gone end of life on this?

That's exactly what we're set up for. We work with what's there, pull the program off the panel, and rebuild it on supported hardware so you're not stuck again next time.

Do you cover Innisfail, Tully, Mareeba and Atherton?

Yes. Same day where we can, same week otherwise. Our base is Cairns and we drive out across all of FNQ.

The Local Who Can Read the Comms.

Sick of waiting on the OEM and paying their travel from Brisbane? We're based in Cairns. Same-day callouts in metro, same week across FNQ.
